This has nothing to do with Karma.

The fact of the matter is that media attention has all the car makers jumpy right now and Hyundai is doing an emergency evasive maneuver. All new models are going to have glitches but the current climate makes it doubly important that automakers jump on any issue quickly.

It depends really. I have the personalized settings on my car set to stay locked until I pull on the handle. The default (IIRC) was to unlock all doors once the car was put in park.

OK. Thanks. I may want to make my car do that as well. Not even sure what it's set at right now.

I would take a faulty door latch over an uncontrolled accelerating car . At least they caught this early and did something about it.....unlike some other company...

this happens quite often (safety issue just when car is being launched)... usually nobody cares about it. Imagine if this was now on some new Toyota coming out ;-)

The fact also is that Hyundai has been growing rapidly, and releasing new and major redesigns at a fast pace, so don't think Hyundai is immune from problems that can occur with rapid growth.

Never say never. If Hyundai continues with their extremely arrogant and aggressive attitude towards the market, and if they become big enough, a lot of eyes will be on them.

The bigger a company becomes, the bigger of a target they are.

Yes, and better before somebody falls out of the car on the street from a moving car after leaning on an unlatched door.

Funny how people forgot this company was worst in quality or near worst for decades. I agree it's great they caught it but any Toyota jabs r out of line.

You realize that for this problem to manifest, you'd have to:

1. Hold down the lock button.

2. While simultaneously forcing open the door from the inside.

Then the door won't latch properly any more. Has anyone here in their entire driving history ever try doing this to their car?

It's more akin to user abuse than an actual defect. It's otherwise a complete non-story that the media is trying to puff up because of the current safety problems with Toyota.

Yes I realize that, not that it matters.

Well, if you realize that you've broken the latch on your car by doing something asinine, yet you decide lean on it while driving. . . well, then you're simply removing yourself from the gene pool.
