Sales should pickup somewhat. I just saw on the lexus website that you can lease one for $369 a month. Not bad at all. But then again, you can get an IS for $329. Might steal sales

I haven't seen a single one. At least not that I recognized as one. In all honesty this car could be mistaken for a Corolla in moving traffic unless one sees it from the front.

I see em around, but then I also see Camry and Highlander hybrids all of the time so perhaps the area in which I live has a propensity for hybrids.

I think sales might pick up more people actually look at the car and see that the controls/dash layout is not anywhere near as quirky as the Prius, Civic Hybrid, and Insight. Yes, the HS does cost more (it's an upmarket nameplate, of course), but the comparative lack of quirkiness, IMO, may become attractive as the car becomes more well-known. And, speaking of money, you can pay over 30K for loaded Prius models......the Phase V model that I reviewed (the only unsold one available at the time) listed for some 32K.

True Mike but a HS with the same options would be in the mid to high $40's.
Way too much for that car.

Maybe. As you note, the public will decide with their wallets. From what I've seen in the D.C. area, though, they haven't bought very many 2Gen Honda Insights, which is still the cheapest way to get into a brand-new hybrid (though the Phase I Prius is not far off). So that shows that money alone, and a cheap MSRP, isn't the overriding issue.

I've read some not so good reviews on the Insight.
Seems the Prius is the best Hybrid for the cost.
I'm not a fan of Hybrids..yet.Although a bit more interested than a year or two ago.I still lean more toward diesels.

Yes way too much, now if Lexus offered the same Camry Hybrid powertrain in the ES for about the same cost as a loated ES350, then that might of worked at that price.

Well it started strong as it was an option when "CFC" was around. Gas has risen but clearly not to levels where MPG becomes more of a buying issue. To me the HS is simply a car that sells based on MPG and technology. Those are NOT the highest buying points. Looks, price, image are.

Sales for the HS, to me, are entirely dependent on gas prices. Low gas= low sales and High gas= high sales.

We all know its not a good looking car and is quirky.

IS 250, not IS. HS leases were HORRIBLE last year. G37s are $359, TLs are $389, most in the class have good leases. The new HS lease better help.

My dealer has an ad for a $38,830 HS with Premium Pkg for $399 with $0 down.
With a bit of haggling, the cost can come down a bit more per month.
36K miles 10K miles per

A $37400 IS is $429 with $0 down.
That tells me the HS isn't selling.

$38200 ES350 $479 $0 down
$41400 RX350 $489 $0 down

Oh I agree its not selling. I've spoken to 3 dealers and they are not moving it and again they feel as I do. It depends on gas prices. Its clear Americans will not move to better economy until gas reaches critical mass.

Quick Reply: Is the HS250 on a sales hold or is it just selling really bad???
