Default Got let go, Unemployed, turning in leased car early. Will it hurt my credit score?

My girlfriend was let go at work due to some downsizing/restructuring and stuck with a leased car. If there's a program that takes in lease cars early because of this type of situation, does anyone know how much it hurts your credit score?

I believe Lexus offers this program.

I dont think it will hurt your credit score, but I do know they will want the rest of the lease payments unless you trade it in for another car and tack the balance of the pay off on the first car on to the new car. Good luck buddy.

I believe Hyundai's program advertises that it doesn't impact your credit. Other lease programs will gladly accept your lease car early - along with a check for all of the remaining payments. At least you save on insurance.

get someone to take over the lease....the above sites get the lease legally transferred to another person and out of her name with no damage to her credit.

there will probably be a transfer fee, check with the orig leasing company.

Right now, with a job loss, I'd be more concerned about your G/F's credit rating than yours....since you still (apparantly) have a job and she doesn't. Loss of a job.....and regular income.....usually has more of an effect on credit than a simple early-lease termination.

Good luck to your G/F, BTW.....I hope she finds a suitable new job, or gets re-hired back on her old one..
