Default Hyundai Sonata GLS vs. Honda Accord vs. Mazda 6 i Touring Edmunds Comparison test

http://www.insideline.com/hyundai/so...gination_top_0
Overall, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is a remarkable achievement. Not just because it does so well in a few ways what the Accord has done for so many years, but also because it delivers excellence in so many categories. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata is the new benchmark among mainstream large sedans. There, we said it.

1st Place: 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS
With its winning combination of features, price and fuel economy, the all-new Sonata probably didn't need a stylish package to win. But it didn't hurt, either.

2nd Place: 2010 Mazda 6 i Touring
Clearly, the Mazda 6 is still the benchmark when it comes to driving dynamics, but the relatively aged powertrain and creeping price put a strain on our reigning favorite.

3rd Place: 2010 Honda Accord LX
Honda has built an empire on finding the safe spot in the middle of the mainstream, but the rushing waters are growing crowded with ankle-biting interlopers. Honda needs a refreshed Accord, and quickly.

Total Score

Sonata 89.7
mazda 680.6
accord 73.3

i have absolutely no idea they only tested 3 cars..

Bit of a strange test. More cars should have been included.

indeed very strange. they said mazda6 was their previous favorite, so i guess they wanted to compare sonata to their favorite and usual top finisher, accord.

Mazda's interiors are so depressing, especially at night.

2009 mazda6 beating VW CC.

just looked through most of their comparison. they rarely test more than 3 cars. it's almost always 2 or 3 cars/suvs. very weird.

Despite yesterday's drama, for a 4-banger, I'd take the Sonata over the other two... if these 3 were the ONLY choices

Interesting test.

P.S.

In Asia, introducing a stick shift to a car of this class is considered as sacrilege

Just a bit of FYI there

hahaha the sonata looks like it's saying to the accord and 6, "i'm gonna git you!"

Mazda also uses that red-orange instrument lighting at night...I find that color annoying, when used for gauges. Pontiac, older Audis, and some BMWs, also used the same color.

They really do! Amazing what a difference wheels make in the appearance of a car.

They say that that color reduces eye stress but I don't believe it.
