Default BMW 1 Series...the perfect little car?

Ok, so I have been seeing more of these around lately....I just love the styling and the size of the car. I also checked the credentials and the stats are indeed very, very impressive.

50:50 weight distribution
Incredible 0-60 performance
Twin turbo
Styling, styling, styling...so nice
Easy to get around in

What impresses me the most is how small and compact the car is. It would be the perfect car to have to get to here and there in style. I dunno what it is, there is something about the rear half of the car where the roof slopes down that is just so nice.

Convertible or coupe

Is the 1 series the perfect little car?

small and compact it may be, but it's pretty damn heavy, and I'd say pretty damn expensive.

I do like the 135i in certain colors though.

I like the car, but I don't love it. I just cannot love BMW interiors, they don't look at great to me.

Too expensive and ugly. For only a couple more thousand you can get the 335, which is a much better looking car.

I don't own the coupe/convertible but I am enjoying my little 1 series hatchback. It's a very zippy and agile car and spacious enough for me and my wife. The driving experience is addicting.

It might be "fastttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt" but it's way slower than 135 bone stock

Remember, not everyone wants/is willing to do that to a new car. Many just want to buy a car, and be done with it, without modding to get it to additional performance.

I like the little 1-series, but for me, it's just too expensive and too small. If I was single, or didn't have kids, maybe.

IMO the 1 Series is very unattractive and too expensive to ever be the "perfect little car".

Its a perfect performer though, I cant wait for the 135iS to come out with the DCT, it has 6 pots from the factory, and with the JB3+ flash, a bigger IC, and Oil cooler the car is a very stout powerful machine.

The 1-Series is great if you need a little fast car.

But that's what it is: a little fast car. It's not the most economical nor spacious nor gas efficient nor cheapest-to-insure car out there; but it does a great job as a little fast car.

Is it the perfect little car? NO CAR IS PERFECT.

Styling, styling, styling...so nice
I disagree, its hideous. Add in the fact that it's not much lighter than a 3-series, yet sacrifices a considerable amount of space compared to the 3-series and it's a no-way for me. Give me a CPO 335i coupe for about the same money please.

IIRC the 135i only weighed around 200 pounds less than my 335i did.

Too heavy for its size. Performance numbers backed this up... it was barely any better performing than the 335i. Most reviewers also stated the interior was noticeably cheaper, and I already thought my 335i interior was pretty cheap for the purchase price. Ride was also stated to be worse than the 335i and again I already didn't think the 335i's ride quality was great (though still better than the IS350).

All of the above compromises considered make it seem kind of silly that you only save, what, something like 5 grand off the 335i's sticker when comparably equipped?

BMW should have had the 1 series take them back to their roots. A sub 3000 pound, or almost sub 3000 pound car.
