Are you sure? The regular 3 series is double wishbone, right?
Many people often confuse strut setup, in which spring is mounted over the shock but the whole assembly only its direct purpose, with MacPerson strut, where the strut assembly also serves the purpose of the upper control arm, which it replaces.
It's neither good or bad, just different. BMW showed us how they can make it work well on their cars. I believe the 5-series uses double wishbone, and it handles equally as well. It's all about balance.
If they really do go with the Turbos, it's going to be a monster. I can't wait to see ECU tunes on this thing.
There are rumors that bmw will record tunes and void warranties on future bmws. they learned their lesson after the fiasco with the 335's and i don't think anybody wants to own a bimmer without warranty.

lol, there is a will, there is a way. just like the current 335 (even after all the bmw firmware update and tracking), i think companies will find a way to defeat all the "recording" by bmw
I believe MacPhersons are an inherently inferior design vs a double A / wishbone but BMW has tuned the crap out of the MacPherson design for the 3 series (at least the older ones).
I concur that the inline 6 is bread and butter engine for BMW but not with turbos. Naturally aspirated and good breathing is what made the old M3 special. Also BMW does not have a ton of experience in turbo-charged engines (HPFP and its issues) so I would not buy a 1st year model
I hope the new M3 is not a 60-70K car but I am not holding my breath. Lighter, simpler with less iDrive

They'd better, or the CPO is going to be meaningless. Personally, I think it's atrocious behavior for any car owner to attempt to subvert warranty violation detections, especially on a leased car.
