Default So I'm with a buddy in his wife's '09 Equinox Sport

Not a bad SUV.No rattles,ride pretty well.
A light is on showing one of his tire's air pressure is low.He presses a button and finds his front passenger side is low at 25 lbs.Other tires show 33.
He probably has a leak.
What a great feature to have on a vehicle.A readout to tell you what tire is low on this GM vehicle.Yet Lexus doesn't have this feature on $40+K vehicles.

That feature requires RF sensors in each wheel. They work great until you:

- Realize that the reading can be wildly wrong
- Rotate your tires and need to lower and raise the tire pressure in each wheel to reset the system
- Buy winter tires & wheels and add about $80 per wheel for a sensor - and fiddle with the tire pressure to reset the system so it learns where the tires are twice a year.

I prefer having no TPMS or the simpler system that uses the ABS system and no wheel sensors.

I prefer to check the tire pressure myself. Period.

I do also but even with the negatives caddyowner pointed out,I feel it's a great system over just a dash light.
I also feel GM's oil wear system is better than a 5K mile dash light.

This is not a GM-unique system. Other manufacturers offer TPMS / oil life systems with similar capability.

I could do without this, too. It's bad enough when ABS wheel sensors go awry.

I do like the GM OLM system. I understand there is some good enginering in that system. I always changed oil at about 20% life remaining.

you like bending down, wrinkling clothes, getting your hands dirty, wasting time pressing some widget on the valve stem when you can just see it on a display inside the car?

you sound like a nav system naysayer who insists a paper map is just as good or better.

I've never had a problem checking the tire pressure on any car that I've owned. Also, I've never gotten dirty. The only aspect of my body that gets a bit dirty are my hands - and I keep wet tissues from the brand Kleenex in my car in order to clean my hands afterwards.

Besides, having this technology on board only tells you that your tire pressure needs checking. You will still have to physically pump air into your tires afterwards.

Not at all. I'm just a person who doesn't need tire pressure monitoring, or electric seats and I could also live without electric windows if I had to.

Similar features are on our Pilot, which is why I prefer driving it over the GS. Voice command HVAC and Audio controls is just icing on the cake.

Some people will always be happier driving a horseless carriages. As for me, the better and more technology, the happier I will be! I still remember my first car, a 1957 Renault Dauphine with electric "clutch" manual tranny!

It's long been known Lexus lacks certain features other cars have. And I garantee you every other car out there lacks some feature that Lexus includes. So in the end, this arguement will never be won either way. No car company has everything, unless you are buying a $300k uber car.
