He hit my G35 (advice needed)
about a month ago, i was at a casino with my little brother. we were eating in the casino when a employee announced "Driver of a red Infiniti G35 anybody?"
When i followed him outside to the parking lot, i see a ford focus next to my front bumper with a large scratch on my front bumper. we traded information.
I got an estimate from a couple body shops saying 500+ but my friend offered to get it done for 400. so i called this guy asking for 400 and he doesn't believe it will cost that much.
Over the past month I've been calling him a lot and he has been ignoring all my calls.
When I finally got a hold of him a month later, we set up a time to go to shops to get estimates to prove the damage is $500 worth. We planned to meet up yesterday but he flaked and he said he would call me today. He didn't call and hes still ignoring all my calls.
i just called him with a friends phone and he answered but when i started talking he just turned up his music very loud and put the phone next to the speakers.
up to this point i am very frustrated with his inability to cooperate and i would like to know what i should do next. report it to the DMV? report it to my insurance and be forced to pay it all myself? (deductible)
suggestions on what to do please? thank you CL community

If he keeps ignoring you, you have the option of paying to have it done yourself and then taking him to small-claims court to recover your losses. He can't ignore a court summons. Take pictures of the damage and keep all receipts and paperwork. And, of course, have the work done for a reasonable price...a judge will be more likely to award you the money if he or she sees that you have been responsible with it.

If he doesn't comply go forward without him and also see if the casino has any tapes of the accident.

turn it over to insurance, no use wasting your time trying to save his insurance from skyrocketing. he should have been the one keeping in contact with you.
save yourself the headache and report it.

Always get the other drivers insurance information. From there, you can both decide if you want to handle it out of pocket or not, and if things go south you have his insurance information and are able to go that route. If he has no insurance or can't show proof at that point then call the police and have an accident report filed. Why anyone involved in an accident fails to get the other drivers insurance information is beyond me. I'm also not sure why people don't call the police and get an accident report filed. First thing my insurance company asks me whenever I used to file a claim is if I have a police report. Obviously it must be a pretty important document.
