Default **WARNING** Tires have Expiration Dates

I just saw this video and thought it would be very informative to post on here. As I was, I'm sure not many people know about this. If you do know, then that's great, it's for the people who dont know.

Anyway, its a 10minute video but very good to know.

yep, something like you shouldnt go 4-5 years past the date of manufacturing on the side wall. If you drive your car regularly, it shouldnt be a problem. The spare is where this is most relevant

I think more are aware of this than you might think. Thanks for posting it . It may prevent drama for those still in the dark.

Although aged tires may be somewhat of a concern, the 20/20 video was over dramatization at it's best.

My dad used to live in Palm Springs, CA - the land of retirees, low mileage big cars, and rotting tires in the desert. When I would visit him, we'd take walks through his neighborhood and comment on how some folks tires were all dry rotted from age, sun, and desert heat.

Once on a phone call, he started ranting about how he was going to write a nasty letter to GM and General Tire because he had two blow outs in the last month on his new Buick with only 19K miles. I reminded him that it was 2004 and his "new" Buick was a 94 ... riding on the original tires ... and that he had left the Buick in Palm Springs over the summers for the last five years and taken his truck to Tahoe for the summer.

"Oh..."

20/20 is always about overdramatization and scare tactics. People love that for some stupid reason.

What about spare tires. My 3000GT has a 17 year old spare in the back... guess its time to dump it.
