I much MUCH prefer the design of the Gen Coupe to the Solara and to the G37. The Gen coupe is much more butch and aggresive with interesting curves. The Solara 2nd gen looked like a big SC 430 to me (I did find the front end very well done) and the G37 looks too much like the G35 and now the Altima coupe (I prefer the G35).

Sorry, I am a big fan of the Gen coupe styling.

The Genesis has the classic sports coupe silhouette - can't say the same for the Solara.

And actually w/front end/headlight design, the FT-86 has a more similar headlight shape to the Genesis (albeit w/o the curvature) than the Genesis does to the Solara - as well as having a 370Z grill.

Agree - the Genesis doesn't really belong in the pony car category - irrespective of price, it is more comparable to the RX-8 and G37.

Agreed - even tho it's a fat pig, the Challenger looks good.

As long as there is a V8 under the hood, the Challenger fits the bill (not exactly looking for sports car handling in a pony car).

One could very well say the G37, well G35, was inspired by the Tiburon, considering the Genesis looks similar to the Tib.

Where were you when Toyota made the cheap, rust-prone tincans during the 1960s-70s?

Dustin, you need to get inside of that Challenger, and your opinion will quickly change. Its interior build quality and materials are down right disgusting.

Is the 3.8 powerplant in the Genesis build by Hyundai or Mitsu?

not 100% sure, but I believe Hyundai no longer shares parts with Mitsu.

well i was only 10 when my dad bought his first car in 1990. it was hyundai Excel for $5000. it was the best feeling in the world. "My dad has a car!"

it was really a tough decision for him. his choice were Kia Pride, Daewoo LeMans, Excel or go broke and buy a Sonata. lol he really worked hard to make the money. i was so proud of Excel. and i didn't know it was a piece of junk. it was our first car, and we had our first trip around S. Korea.

had the best memories in my life in that Excel. Excel lasted 130km without any problem then we came to the states in 92. Excel is cool in my book.

I will admit seeing Excels that were maybe 2-3 years old and burning lots of oil . It seemed like a common issue with those cars

Good looking car. I'd take it over any of the big 3 muscle cars. But I still wouldn't take it. They need to fix that front end ASAP and make it faster.

The GEMA world engine block was designed by Hyundai and Chrysler, Hyundai and Mitsu took it their own separate ways from there.
