Yes, I agree that a single tire brand, while shopping, shouldn't necessarily be cast in stone, but Michelins, in general, have an excellent reputation overall. Of course, there are other good tires as well, such as the Bridgestone Blizzaks for winter, Goodyear Aquatread for rain (if you can still find them), and, of course, the ubiquitous Goodyear Eagles. Most tires, of course, are somewhat of a trade-off between dry/wet traction, steering effort, road noise, and tread life.

The Goodyear Regatta is a good tire for low road noise and quietness (I have used them myself, on my old 1995 Celica, which had poor insulation in the wheelwells), but is not particularly sporty or designed for aggressive driving.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE-92 all-season tire is also on the quiet side (they came stock on both my Lexus IS300 and Subaru Outback), good for year-around use, but not particularly good on tread-life. I've seen some Internet complaints about RE-92s but generally had good luck with them.

Of course, I'm not sure if either of these tires are available in the exact size you need.

if you're looking for a long lasting quiet tire --- the Kumho Solus KH16 (H rated) are quiet and very cheap ($79) with a 440 tread wear rating..I had them on my Mazda 3 for about 20K miles and was very satisfied...the tread still looked brand new. I found them locally for $280 balanced/installed [cash deal]

Want a good looking tire...none of those are it LOL.

Doesnt matter right now anyway, Wifey just had a Blow-out on I-81 with one of the comfort-treads. I knew it was coming, The civic had a BAD rear camber issue that i didnt solve in time and I had not gotten around to replacing the tires. I was hoping to get tires on the new wheels and have her get them swapped before this happened.

2 new Goodyear Assurance ComforTread's=$298 OTD Mtd/Bal (205/55/16).

There went Half my new tire budget

Shes ok, no damage, just rattled nerves (said it sounded like a cannon going off). She put the spare on, drove to the Goodyear Store that put them on (informed us about the camber problem, it was under recall, but I didnt get it fixed in time), and they set her up. I was going to replace the 2 back ones (80k tires wore in 20k cause of neg camber) when I got home anyway, but they just did not make it. The R/R Blew because the belts separated, and the L/R had a bulge forming when she got to Goodyear. So they put 2 brand new ones on the back, and now we have 4 tires worn almost evenly and a camber problem thats solved. :P

I am LOVING the tread pattern on these, but wasnt too sure about some of the reviews I read.

And yeah, Megs is great, she can change the oil, rebuild an automatic transmission, and do custom upholstery too!

SHES MINE! I called dibs!

I'm currently looking for tires as well. Based on looks, I like the Yokohama S.drive or the Bridgestone RE760 Sport (asymmetrical). Both are classified as Ultra-High Performance Summer.

Yokohama S.drive

Bridgestone RE760 Sport

who? the wheels or the wife?

And an update...she was driving yesterday, and ran over a coat hanger. punched through on the first rotation, and then on the next revolution it ripped a hole in the sidewall of the tire. DAMN THE LUCK! She went back to goodyear and got that one replaced for free under road hazard warranty.
