Haven't seen it on TV yet, Mike, but I DID hear the story this morning on NPR (National Public Radio) and other local radio news channels. Perhaps we'll see it on the network TV news tonight.

I have not seen anything via tv/radio/newspaper so far. I had to Google-it-up to find out about the CR lifting the "dont buy".

very good video, i hope this gives people a good comparison between what should and should not happen

lol, and i have a feeling not many people will know about this update -- it won't generate enough media revenue

Most major Los Angeles news channels have been showing CR's new testing and recommendation. It's been shown here in LA.

I can't imagine ANY Toyota/Lexus-related story being neglected for very long by today's media. Like I mentioned above, NPR and local radio channels started carrying it early yesterday morning. From the last couple of posts, it also seems to be getting coverage in California.

I'm still waiting to hear the aftermath (via the press) of the runaway Prius driver in southern cal, after Toyota and the fed safety experts found nothing wrong with the car and found that the driver had applied the brakes over 200 times. So in short, no real attempt was being made to stop the car until after he had made his calls on his cell phone and got the cops and press involved.

Hitting the brakes a couple of hundred times is probably just a typical morning commute on a rush-hour SoCal freeway. It certainly is during rush hour in this area.

I don't think hitting the brakes a couple of hundred times at 80mph is a typical morning commute on a rush-hour SoCal freeway.

OK.....for the average commuter, I'll agree. But quite a few drivers will go 80 MPH if conditions allow. The D.C. Beltway, for instance, when not jammed or in gridlock, is famous for a 70-75 MPH average in the left lane.

not sure what are you talking about, guy claimed that he cant slow down his car, he was not "commuting", he claimed his car was accelerating all the time.

That was the whole point.....the claim was probably B.S. Any normal, rational person, under a true throttle-stick condition, would have probably shifted out of Drive and into neutral long before hitting the brake pedal 200 times (or, one would hope so), especially after what happened to the cop and his family in that ES350. I brought up the 70-75 MPH commuter comparison to show that "accelerating" to those speeds, under some conditions, doesn't actually put you past the traffic flow, though I admit that maybe it wasn't the best comparison to use.

I still want CR to test BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Audi in the same conditions. Biased ******.

Toyota-Lexus should honestly sue CR for slander and being idiots testing. Time for Toyota-Lexus to ruin CR reputation.
