The EPA, a few years ago, actually wanted to close down the road (and the annual race, of course), because they claimed all the traffic was harmful to the mountain's ecosystems, and, if not an actual closedown, to change the road's paving material to a substance that would have very difficult to race on (I can't remember what it was). Fortunately, for whatever reason, that hasn't happened.
Yet they never wanted to do the same thing for the Mt. Washington road in NH, which is essentially a somewhat lower version of the Pikes' Peak road. Go figure.![Uhh...](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/1387914497.gif)

Well, Hyundai does have a tradition in Pike's Peak.
Here is a video of Rod Millen (Rhys' Father) winning the 1992 Pike's Peak in a Hyundai Scoupe.

a. showroom stock (i think it's now "super stock"), according to his resume: http://www.millenworks.com/html/abou...Highlights.pdf
b. and if it is a showroom stock-class car, it's definitely fwd. and considering that it's a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, it must be pushing some serious boost.
