Dawg tracks... Rdgdawg FINALLY makes a purchase!!! (with pics)
So... after 14 months of research, test drives, and patience waiting for our project to move forward, the time has come... I have FINALLY decided (HUGE CHEERS ) on the first purchase... which will be my "winter beater/everyday car"....
soooo.... the winner for Round one is....
... 2010 Jetta Wolfsburg 2.0 Turbo!!! Candy White w/ DSG... drove it home yesterday after picking up in Chicago... VERY pleased!! Met all the prerequisites I need for now (handling, performance, mileage, winter driving, client/children space) while not killing the budget for the "fun car" ... more on that later...
I must say it's a blast to drive, handles phenomenally compared to the Sonata, quick, and spacious. Kids have plenty of room in back, HUGE trunk, averaged about 34 mpg on the drive at 70-75mph. Computer doesn't do as much as on the Limited BUT... better guages, much more comfortable seats... and... sound system draws blood. Slam a door... solid!! Bluetooth for phone is icing on the cake!!! Turbo sounds niiiiiice (hit it once, now gotta wait til 1K miles ) Carbon fiber trim is sweet touch and finishes black leather well. Will post more as I get used to her
Couldn't be happier, Fox Valley did a FANTASTIC job getting where I wanted... look forward to driving and breaking her in...
Now as for the "fun car"... coming hopefully this summer... a teaser ...

Congragulations, Russ. Paitience has it virtues....and you exercized it well.
To be honest, though, based on some of the cars you looked at, priced, and requested reviews for, this wasn't quite what I was expecting. But then, a Jetta won't set you back the tidy sum that a Z06, Shelby Mustang, or Audi S5 will. And that money difference, of course, could well be used in your retirement or kids' college fund.
I'm sure you know the break-in rules.....so take it easy, especially with that new turbo. And keep that oil changed....with a turbo, synthetic or turbo-arroved dino oil is probably the best.
It's fine right where it is, Russ....
Of course, that's up to you.

DAWG have you looked into APR stage 4 kits for the 2.0t? Around 400whp! I have a Jetta 1.8t as my daily, but eventually will upgrade to the 2.0t down the road and I can't wait. Nice choice on the Wolf
