Lexus Advisory Board
I recevied an email invitation to join the Lexus Advisory Board (LAB).
There is a come on for a $500 prize.
The sign up includes a few screening questions to make sure you own the car and then they get into a range of demographic/lifestyle/values questions.
It looks like once you are on the LAB site, you will have access to forums to provide feedback to Lexus.
It also looks like Lexus can use the LAB to push news to members.
Is this a new thing and has anyone else received the invitation/signed up?

Thanks Rominl.
I was too lazy to do a search.
It looks like they hit the LS customers more (based on who started the thread).
I guess I look (physically) more like an LS customer than an LFA customer.
At this point there are no discussions to join.
I will have to see if I get may chance to push Lexus to replace ML speakers with Focal speakers (good luck with that).

I don't have an LS, but I do have an ES350. Lexus invited me to join the Advisory Board and asked that I verify I still own my 2009 ES350. I have never owned a 2009, but I do own a 2010. I joined and looked for a profile to change the model year. No luck.

I got an invite I answered every question truthfully and perhaps they wanted a younger perspective on things
I question the authenticity of this survey but hopefully its really legit and they want to improve their products with focus groups ( and invite me )

I got the invite and signed up. Seemed like a lot of questions, but it makes sense from a marketing perspective.

I got the invite and joined too. So far I have just taken a media survey. Hopefully they get the point that they need to implement more technology into their nav screens. I can't wait for them to open a discussion group so they can actually listen to what we have to say.

For the most part these advisory email questions have been useless.
The one i got today was for the joke electronic lifestyle magazine they send us.
Most of the questions were about how it looks, the colors and the ratio of words to pictures.
The break I got was that on a few screens they gave you a chance to say something instead of the pure multiple choice thing.
I let them know the magazine is pablum and they should segment to give us enthusiasts our own version and for cars that they should build a hard top vert with 4 real seats, no plastichrome and zero to 60 in under 4 seconds and then I will read their magazine.
I also said that while they are segmenting, do one for the SUV folks so they can rot in where ever together and do a third for the retiree folks.
I also asked for an interview with some one who actually builds LFAs.
Maybe they will come through for us.

I've been participating in this for several months now. The surveys seem carefully constructed, and results are posted on the LAB site.
The last survey I got dealt with brand perception, focusing on MB, BMW, Acura, Cadillac and Lexus. Here are the results of an earlier survey:
Thanks to all who responded to our Media Consumption study. The following is what we heard:
• Media consumption is high among Lexus owners, with social media becoming more pervasive across gender and age.
• Lexus owners, age 18-34 are significantly more likely to use various media and technology and do so on a more frequent basis.
• 8 in 10 Lexus owners with a Smartphone download apps, and the most popular apps are news and information related (i.e., navigation).
• Facebook is the social networking site accessed most frequently, with over half of Lexus owners who have an account or have visited the site. Among Facebook users, 50% are visiting the site at least weekly; 66% of younger owners visit Facebook daily.

There have been a couple of recent LABs.
One was about interest in using the dealer as your tire shop. Convenience is nice but the cost structure of a Lexus dealership is not going to get the customer a good price (thanks but no thanks)
The most recent one was interesting. They wanted to know
if you were into self closing doors and trunks (no),
a screen that integrated your smartphone (yes),
internet access (sure),
being able to access email and your calendar (no),
if you would like to access/control the car using your smart phone (no key, no thanks)
how you like you stereo (not so much)
what sources you use (no question to ask for HD radio and ditch sat antenna),
what kind of input jacks, how many and where do you want them,
if you like headlamp washers (have em but don't use em)
I wish they would focus their efforts on getting us a better paint system and eliminating plastichrome and plastialuminum.
They could up the luxury aspects of the interior with an extended leather package, wool carpeting and real customization.
This company seems focused on making us listen to Mark Levinson (actually the company that bears his name but nothing elase about him) instead of really listening to folks.
Some day they will as is widely predicted, see Hyundai eat much of their lunch and this is one reason why.

I took the same exact survey, and i liked the idea that they want to improve and implement smaller tech because after all luxury is about the smaller things just as well as the bigger items such as leather and paint. Also, imo Lexus paint quality is great(minimal orange peel etc, but durability is in question).
My answers in the survey pretty much pointed to upgrading the navigation system as well as implementing more power/ usb ports(2). Thats it, i wouldnt want to much crap in my center console
