Another desperate dealer...sad....slaps Red badges on the car and other cosmetic things and calls it a "Type S"

· Type S badges inside and out
Step up to the Type S and take your driving experience to a higher level of style, precision and performance. These two vehicles definitely turn heads. See the Type S for yourself!

The red badged "S" marks, of course, date back from several years ago when the Type S was a factory-produced version....those red logos made them recognizable, as there wasn't (otherwise) much difference in the actual bodywork/trim itself, like there often was with sportier Civics and Integras.
We only know one side of the story here, though....what was actually published in the article. We don't necessarily know WHY the dealership resorted to something like this. Perhaps (?) the dealership had had a lot of customers in the past who either bought or were interested in Type S models. Perhaps the dealer had been complaining to senior Acura management about the lack of Type S models, and finally decided to act on their own. Acura management, of course, is notorious for not listening to its dealers.

The use of the word "upgraded" is the only evidence of the wheel and brake-rotor packages being functional. Given Acura dealers level of expertise, that's questionable (since they tend to use cheapest, heavier than OEM, lowest quality wheels and cheaply modified rotors that most likely result in higher unsprung weight, incorrect offsets, low quality rotors, degraded performance). But agreed, we can at least hope.

Dealers adding trim line badges isn't even allowed. This is the same as a BMW dealer attaching M badges to cars that they simply add wheel upgrades and a body kit to. It's absurd.
Especially when the badge or special trim isn't a dealer creation (for example, putting "special edition" on the car) but rather stealing an existing exclusive line badge ("S", "M", "AMG, "F", ect...) and throwing it on a baseline car. As pointed out, Acura no longer makes S-Types for the time being.

the 2007 TL- Type S was respectable. I liked its design, but if im not mistaken, they did away with the "Type S" version and implemented the SH-AWD, which looks really ugly IMO. not sure what they were thinking, but not surprised that i still see plenty on the lots at some local acura dealerships.
