Ok seriously this is someone's first hand experience:

I love it problems and all. I like the looks b/c it reminds me of the GS but more slender. I do with backseat room was more abundant given the size. Outside of that just a lovely car.

Jag has 4 V-8 engine offerings with the XF!

FWIW he has had a series of electrical problems ranging from A/C to radio. The "final straw" was his gear selector not responding for the third time.

I would look up some of the long term tests from the various mags, and also look on some of the Jaguar/XF forums.

I love the XF, but with the reliability of any Jag, these vehicles are best leased (yes it sounds like BMW scenario as recommended by others). During the length of a typical lease, a Jag is covered by a good warranty & free maintenance program.

I reviewed and wrote up a N/A, non-supercharged Jag XF last year, but I don't have any experience with the supercharged model, which has a different engine, different wood inside, and slightly different wheels/chassis. Still, I hope this will at least help somewhat:

In general, it's hard to beat Jaguar's looks and interior quality, though Audi also does an excellent job with some models. Some of the quirky Jaguar controls, though, can take some getting used to. I, for one, didn't care for the rotary-**** on the console for the transmission shifter and the tab for the electronic parking brake.

Unfortunately, as some other posters (and Consumer Reports) have noted, Jaguars are not noted for reliability.
