Volvo Safety FAIL - Video Inside

Where CR do not buy?
Plus what do you expect. China owns Volvo now. We all know China's track record for safety.
First selling lead painted toys to kids. Tainted canned food. Now selling unsafe cars, that use to be safe.
China will not stop, trying to kill Westerners.

I'm assuming that's an ironic statement considering Toyota's recent troubles.
FWIW, no car company collects as much real world data on collisions between their vehicles and other moving and stationary objects as Volvo, so I'd always rate their vehicles up with the best on safety. Their Safety Centre is the most comprehensive crash laboratory in the world and all the current Fords owe their safety features to its work.

Though still:
I feel that with Chinese ownership (and it's Geely for God's sake), their reputation for safety might be at risk........cause hey atm, China-brand cars are UNSAFE.
Though I hope that won't be the case.

The new Volvo S60, due for release later this year, was fired out of Volvo's testing tunnel at around 30MPH, and the collision detection system should have kicked in, bringing the car automatically to a halt before hitting the truck in its path.
It didn't. Instead, the brand new car ploughed into the back of the truck in front of us, and indeed the world's press who had gathered in Sweden to see the collision detection system in action...

Jay Leno, who, of course, makes his living dishing out barbs, got a good one last week at the yearly Political Comedy Dinner (you might have already heard it). He said that even the crash dummies wouldn't work for Toyota any longer.........they all went out on strike.

Good one, unless they were moonlighting over at Volvo.

I don't think Toyota has ever done a demonstration such as this. It has done rear PCS demos (using a foam rod attached to another vehicle) but I don't think it has ever done a PCS test.. mostly DRCC tests.
The other reason could be the fact that the vehicle is stationary or that the bumpers of the truck isn't the "right" height.
