Sounds like it was just a pure accident and that Costco is standing behind their product by reimbursing repairs + adding $150 gift card. It could happen at any name brand gas station.

Maybe it could have, but it didn't happen at a top tier station.
It happened at a particular Costco station that lacked controls to prevent this kind of accident, therefore not acceptable.
