Default Memorial day on the road

For CL members on the road this holiday weekend, please be safe.

And also remembering the reason for the holiday...

I second that. They gave their tomorrows for our todays.

For CL members on the road this holiday weekend, please be safe

And, in my area, with the heavy beach-bound traffic, VA and MD State Police have a big campaign this weekend to target DWIs and those not wearing seat belts....better known as "Click it or Ticket".

Thanks for the reminder. Old Glory is flying off of the LexBob deck too.

This morning my wife and I took a ride out to the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetary. Quite a site with the thousands of flags on display.

Are your parents, or anyone you know, in the Lincoln Cemetary? PBS did a documentary not long ago on how that cemetary came about....I watched it.

Both of my late parents, BTW, are buried together in Arlington National Cemetery at Fort Myer, with military honors.

My father was buried with military honors in central CA a couple of years ago.

Hat's off to all on this Memorial Day.

No family members are buried at the cemetary. Although it might be a place we'd consider when the time comes. It's a beautiful setting out on prairie land.

Speaking of Memorial Day on the road, it's strange that I didn't see the usual mass of bikers (mostly Harleys) coming into town (town, in my case, being the Washington, D.C. area) Friday or today, like we usually do in preparation for the annual Memorial Day Rolling Thunder ride. This is done every year, of course, by the biker vets in remembrance of still-unaccounted-for POW/MIA's.

(and, when you can't see them, you can definitely HEAR them...which we didn't, either).

I expect, however, to finally see some tomorrow, as I will be around Ft. Myer and near the city.

To those of you who traded one uniform for another. God Bless you and your families sacrifices for this country. To those brothers and sisters who have served past, present, future and to those who gave all, “your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten”

I agree. As for remembering the reason, I have it every single day in my signature. My grandfather was buried with full military honors and I have the signed certificate from the President of the United States. It sits proudly in my office.
