Agreed, historically I've always settled for Porsches (and all with stick shifts too I might mention since they are used as weekend cars mostly).

In 2-3 years you won't be able to buy a new Ferrari with a manual tranny.
I was reading the other evening about one of their new models being offered with only an auto (7 or 8 speed), and the writer remarked that tranny would likely evolve into all their models.

It's the way of the world...Porsche's PDK shifts faster than you can, without torque convertor losses. Dual clutch automatics are the future.

I'm not surprised because I think it comes down to a lot of people simply do not know how to drive a stick. Kids started getting their parents Caravans, Explorers, and Blazers and these vehicles were almost exclusively equipped with ATs.

Yes.....I don't think I've seen a manual-transmission minivan since the mid-1980's Plymouth Voyager/ Dodge Caravan. If my memory is right, they did some rather limited-production MT models, and I think can I remember test-driving one (I knew the GM of a local Chrysler-Plymouth shop), just to see what it was like with the high seating position and the long, rather wobbly shift lever. Except for the full-synchro gears that did not require double-clutching or RPM-matching (which you couldn't easily do with that pedal-spacing anyway ) the wobbly shift lever looked and felt like something out of the 1930's.
