Talking Asking a forum fanboy for advice

This is HILARIOUS!!!! We are not that bad in general with giving bad advice (some don't read though) but some places are really awful.

This video is awesome!!

I love that, LOL. Look how long it took to convince the dude about the need for a basic back seat.

But to be fair we have a few appliance car buyers/owners here too.

"I always pay cash for my cars" That one made me ROFL... There is always some goon that spouts that off. Sorry for not making a million dollars and being able to pay 20k cash for my car.

So dead on. Great find Mike. I love how some people assume that everyone knows which model an e90 BMW is or when they advise you to get a F22A1 instead of simply calling it a Honda Accord (all 125 HP of it). It's one thing to spread your "knowledge" its another to attempt to talk over someone's head when they are simply asking you for advice. All in all great clip. Long but hilarious.

Absolutely. And there's nothing wrong with that. The idea (and image) that car forums are all a bunch of Michael Shumacher wanna-bes is nonsense.

The Edmunds.com general-talk forums are quite good too, in this area, although they separate the forums down more by specific vehicles instead of general car-talk.

Though it's no secret that I have a high opinion of Subaru AWD Boxer-drivetrains, BMW steering/chassis engineering, Lexus refinement, Audi fit/finish, and Hyundai/Kia value/quality for the dollar, I try and be fair and objective on each post (or request) on a case-by-case basis, taking each one as it comes. Not doing so, IMO, can mislead people. That's also why every vehicle I review gets a list of what I consider both PLUSSES and MINUSES.

Mike (1SICKLEX), IMO, is also fair and objective in his reviews, though we don't always agree on some Honda/Acura issues.

Most of the people on CAR CHAT have a pretty high (or reasonably high) level of automotive intelligence to start with. It's hard to talk "Over" them.

Exactly, and in the cartoon, a driver of an appliance could have provided much better advice than the fanboy.

Agreed however...I wasn't referring to Car Chat or even Club Lex for that matter. It's in regard to Fanboys on internet automotive forums for which this thread was about. And we all know there are tons of them out there. You can simply ask someone what is the benefit of owning Car A or Car B and they will attempt to give you a seminar on finance or the history of the combustible engine rather than answer the question which was asked of them.
