Top 10 Speediest States

Some states dole out more tickets per capita than others, and DriverSide has worked up a list of the top 10 speediest states according to traffic citations. Of course, a lot goes into making up these statistics besides how fast residents are driving, including the number of law enforcement officers on the road and the population of the state. So, do drivers up north really cruise at higher speeds than their southern counterparts? Take a look at our list of speediest states to find out for yourself.

I can attest to Vermont. Drove around there back in January I was doing about 65 mph or so. Some people were probably passing me at like 70 - 80 mph.
I am actually surprised New York did not make the list. Usually within minutes of getting into the state my parents get dinged for speeding.

DC is bound to be on the list. It is almost 100% urban (which, of course, means few places to really speed), and has a widespread network of speed and red-light cameras.

I wonder if the Data on this Top Ten List is skewed because from what I know of isn't it Illegal to have radar detectors in the DC, and Virginia areas, if so - people are bound to have more tickets than anywhere else because of lack of personal protection (Radar Detectors)
