I mentioned this in another thread, but Bob Lutz recently verified one point in the article............that if it had not been for GM's financial situation and bankrupcy restricting the number of development dollars, the new C7 would have been a mid-engine design. He had given it the go-ahead until the economic situation stopped it. He did not say, though, like the article, if it is still on hold for the C8. My own guess (but, of course, this is a long way off, and, admittedly, pure speculation), is that the C8 will be a V6 hybrid....possibly a V8 hybrid.
I sure hope not, looks way too much like a cadillac XLR.
The XLR, of course, was done on a older Corvette platform, with a Cadillac Northstar engine instead of a Corvette V8. But, except for a vague resemblance in the headlights, I don't see where there's much of a visual comparison here.
Aside from the grille, it looks OK. The big mouth look has gotta go, though.
Paint the grill body color, and I'm good with it... and the changes will suggest good efficiency again.
Said it before, take all the upgrades in handling, suspension, etc. on a ZR1 and drop 100 HP, you'd have the best daily driver in the world, period. One that Joe Average could take to the track AND be able to run it to it's strengths without worry of crashing at every turn. This is getting closer...
I like it. The Corvette already achieves good mileage. DI a small engine and put it in there and with the weight savings a quicker, more efficient car you will have.
