What a great read.
The cost of freedom is indeed high.
Although all of his decisions were financially reckless, it is certainly a hell of an experience. Even with a pile of problems along the way. Can't believe his run in with the law costing him another $25,000. And 50 some odd tickets! Geez.
Too bad the timing chain stretched. Can't imagine the cost to replace a Gallardo's engine. Thing is, timing chains in normal cars generally never need replacing and yet this one went before a typical time belt.
Amazing, there's a Yaris with around 425,000 miles on it that has almost no repairs and the Gallardo costs 13 times more and can't make it to 100K. If I could afford an exotic, it would be a daily driver. Too bad these companies can't build them to last.

I do have to wonder if this guy followed any proper maintenance schedule. With these exotics, "routine" maintenance is ridiculously expensive. And doesn't it require Lambo certified techs only? Going across country, you're not going to pass too many Lamborghini dealers. Just a brake job alone could be 10 grand.

If he can afford to pay off all the debt he accumulated from this, then great for him for following his dreams.
However, if he ends up filing bankruptcy and skipping out on the debt, I'd consider him a selfish dirtbag.

great story, one that i would probably try one of these days.... but instead of a lambo i'll probably do it on a motorcycle.. nothing sweeter than seeing america on open road!!!..
