Jaguar XK Mini Review

I'm still checking out coupes. The link above was my first, the Benz CL. That car has fallen on my list but not off it.
Couple days ago I checked out the Jag coupe, the XK. I didn't drive it yet, that will come this weekend. What I can talk about is the interior and exterior.
The seating was firm but supportive. Super quality leather and padding. Fit for spirited and long distance driving.
The dash and console had a sportier look than the sedans but is still pure luxury. Every surface felt well thought out and built with quality in mind.
The legroom was most important to me and it just barely satisfied my needs. The left leg can completely stretch out but my right leg is somewhat bended. I want both legs to be straight. Not a deal breaker, it's similar to my GS so I can deal with it. Besides, I think some better seat manuevering might get me what I'm looking for.
The exterior shape is almost exotic-like. Kind of like an Aston Martin. I'm serious. It's long hood is sooo sexy. The spoiler is built to really create downforce and all the open air vents are functional. I could easily see it with nice wheels and a drop.
It's 188 inches long which is almost like a big coupe...like my beloved SC300/400....but it's lighter because of aluminum material in it's body.
WHen I drive the car it will be the XK. The XKR is supercharged and I'm afraid of buying a car with Jaguar's reliability history that generates all that heat under the hood. Besides, I ain't racing and 385 hp with 380 lbs of torque are plenty for me. At least I hope so. It wasn't enough in the heavy CL. Let's hope it is ion the lighter weight XK.
I checked out the GTR too but I'll wait until I drive it to report. Quickly, it has all the legroom I need and has a seriously unique shape. Scared of turbo but it Japanese and should be reliable. More to come.

Thanks for the write-up, and for sharing.
The N/A 5.0L, as I stated in the XJ review, will more than make that heavy (4000-lb+) car get out of its own way....and is smooth, quiet, and refined to boot. It should be great in the XK. (In fact, I think the 380 ft-lbs. is somewhat underrated in the N/A 5.0...it feels like 400 or more).
At legal speeds on American roads, downforce probably isn't much of an issue.
If readjusting the seat doesn't do the trick (and sometimes you can't raise the seat cushion because of low headroom), then the solution might (?) be a car with power-adjustable pedals. In most cases, though (if not all), that feature is limited to two-pedal vehicles, without conventional 3-pedal manual transmissions.

Regg, I am a huge huge, HUGE fan of the XK. Love it inside and out. Love the color options inside and out. Love the size and the hatch too.
A good thing is if the Jag does break down their dealer network is right up there with Lexus from my understanding.

Speaking of the dealer, the dealership was beautiful. I mean quality furniture and carpeting, nice design of the offices, upstairs showroom, rooftop showroom.....it felt like a special place. I hate going in for maintenance and repairs but at least it would be nice being surrounded by all that kuxury.
