New car tomorrow?
Just want some opinions on a car I might potentially buy tomorrow. I found a 2005 Infiniti Q45 with extremely low miles in perfect shape. The owner said he has most service records, and a big plus is the car is still under warranty. I have been doing some research, but most reviews and things are for the earlier 2002-2004 Q45. I can't really find anything for the 05, which is suppose to have all the kinks worked out of it. If anyone on here has owned one or has any information I would really appreciate it.

I haven't heard anything at all about the later Q45 models as they were on their way to die. I would think by then all the kinks are indeed working out.
Personally the stigma of a discontinued car is not for me as fear of finding parts for a car dealerships have no interest in. Good luck

The Q45 is a very nice car. Its no LS430, but you can ****** them for Toyota Avalon money.
I wasn't too crazy about the controls in the Q45 - they outdo even BMW's I-drive in the lack of thought and logic. But other than that the car seems solid, comfortable, and potent.
I don't know about maintenance costs though.

I love the Q45. I think it looks great, it has that flagship status, and the one you are looking at is low miles and still under warranty ( so you can extend the warranty through Infiniti). I think you should go for it but get the extended warranty for security.

For some reason I love the body style, interior and the way it drives. I would get an LS430 if I was at an age where it might be more fitting (im just turning 20). My parents were shocked that im even thinking about an Infiniti. We're a Lexus family for sure. I was at the dealer the other day and the lady working said "How many damn Lexus do you own?" They had something like 10 in the computer. Of course those have been throughout the years. My mom has a new Mercedes and still drives her older Lexus most the time. Im gonna decide in the morning, but I think im going to take the leap and get an in Infiniti. I really want a GS460, but thats out of my price range right now so I will wait a few more years.

Just keep in mind, when you buy a car like that, even if you get a good deal on, it will still cost a lot more to maintain and repair than most mainstream cars. Even if its going to prove more reliable than mainstream cars, still once a while things will go wrong, and parts for such cars can be very very costly.

Get what you want......and can afford. But, seriously, I'd think twice about getting something with rubber-band-profile tires like that (if those posted images are representative ofthe car you're looking at), or a front-air dam, that sits an inch off the ground.
Also, (and this goes without saying) check the car out thoroughly, inside and out....as much as you can do without a mechanic or technician. The Q45 is a complex machine, with a lot of systems and equipment on it. Plus the usual things, of course....no steering wheel shimmy at higher speeds, smooth even brake pedal, no wandering/pulling, blue exhaust oil smoke, etc.....

I own a 2004 M45, which to my knowledge shares quite a bit with the Q45 of the same vintage. Just a couple of problems I wanted to point you to. First, the trunk lid has an automatic closing mechanism, and it closes the trunk for you well. Unfortunately, it closes the trunk on you when you don't want it to close either. Every time I go to open the trunk it will inevetibly close prior to me getting to the trunk to lift the lid open. Second, the gas gauge stopped working about 6 months ago. From what I read on various forums, this is very common for this car. The bill to fix it from infiniti was about 800 including labor.
Other than that, this car has been great, I like the fact that it is very exclusive, and I bought it in 2005 for a nice discount compared to the new model.

We had looked casually some years back as a possible consideration as an LS430 contender. Having seen the VIP rags, it seemed like a comparable car stats wise. In the end though, wife felt that even our aging LS was the better car and I came to a similar conclusion.
While they didn't sell many of these, the ones they did are suspiciously absent on the roads. I don't know what the death is of these but if you want a reliable car, the 430 though more $$ is the better consideration. There is also a reason why these are selling at such low prices...that makes me even more wary.

Picked up a 2005 Infiniti Q45 yesterday with 28,000 miles on the clock. The car is immaculate. Drove up to Santa Barbara yesterday and damn this thing drives nice. Way better than my 2002 GS430. Overall im really happy. I like all the features it has, and the power trunk has already come in handy. Ill try and post pictures later.
