Post Has Porsche accidently revealed the next 928?

http://www.porscheconsulting.com/pco/en/

This is not a new Porsche 928. It's just an interesting sketch, found posted on the internet at Porsche Consulting's website. There are some new rumors about a two-door GT in the same vein of the Porsche 928, and this sketch is similar to some of the renderings that have been floating around. Of course, you toss a bunch of Porsche design elements in a blender, and it wouldn't be hard to come up with this vehicle.

The takeaway here is that there are likely hundreds, even thousands of drawings floating about in Stuttgart that show cars with no true bearing on production reality. Despite rumors that Porsche is working on a new 928 that may be a Panamera variant, it'd be a stretch to believe that this sketch represents anything about that project, barring specific knowledge. If it helps you sleep at night, go ahead and ascribe undue importance to it, but until anyone knows more, remember that this is just a cool picture on a website. Thanks for the tip, Ian!

I think it would be good for Porsche to bring back a 928. The Cayman isn't doing enough to enhance the brand. The Boxster did for a short-short but seems more like a cheaper Porsche for people who can't afford a 911. It's okay for there to be a cheaper entry but it still needs to enhabce the brand. Bring back the 928.

Weren't they talking about releasing a 2-door Panamera?

Here's a photoshopped one I found:

I think it could be cool if they cleaned up the trunk area a bit.

I do look forward to the new 928. I was always a fan of the non-911 styled Porsches such as the 928 and 944.

+ 1 never cared about 911 until 1996 Turbo always loved 928 but scared off by repair costs. I think the 2 door coupe will be built it's just a question of what marketing will name it.

I was reading a 2006 Car & Driver today in JE Pistons waiting area & saw the Future talk section in the front with sketches that look like the Panamera predicting a 2011 debut for the 2-door 928 type car.

the new 928 was supposed to come out, but it turned out to be panamera.

With VW wanting to double Porsche sales I assume this is coming fast.

I really hope they bring this unique Porsche back. I love the 911 but a design that really hasnt changed shape in so long is a bit mundane

The old 928, if my memory is right (and the smaller but similiarly-styled 944), was front-engined and RWD. That sketch, to me, looks more like a possible next-generation, lower-stance, rear-engine 911 or mid-engine Cayman.

The 928 and 924/944's were front engine/RWD. The sketch looks to have a similar layout (like an AM Vantage), but being nothing more than a rough sketch who really knows.
