A while ago, I did thread on dumb, repetitive auto-insurance commercials. Well, auto makers themselves, of course, are not immune from silly commercials either. Here's a classic:

I think Dodge takes the top spot here. Give us 60 days on a grand caravan and we won't change our minds. Okay.
Cool Alfa commercial but the car was pretty fugly. Way too much money spent there.

How about those Dodge Caliber commercials with a V8 soundtrack. Or how about those old Ford commercials with the soundtrack and song, Pretty Woman. Or the Subie commercial with the chubby cabbie being driven around in a dangerous manner through narrow city streets, like we are supposed to be impressed.
The list of useless auto commercials is endless.

Yep. Agreed. And dealer ads, for the most part, are even worse. It's especially amusing, BTW, to see millionaire (and, in some cases, billionaire) owners of chain-dealerships and auto-sales malls put on costumes, holiday-garb, sing jingle-songs, and do silly dances and cartoon-like antics before the TV cameras trying to get you to buy from them. Some of them just crack me up.
Then, for the radio ads without a TV screen, more often than not, it's loud, booming-echo voices promising thousands off, unbeatable deals, and the lowest prices. No matter who you listen to, every dealership always promises the best deals, and that prices have never been lower.........as if dealerships could afford to just give cars away, and never have to sell at a profit. The only exceptions, among mass-produced cars, are Scions and any leftover Saturns, which, of course, sell at full-list, with no-haggle deals....though, with Saturn's imminent demise, the last leftover ones might (?) sell for whatever they can get for them.
