Yes and No. In it's relative price range, the Civic really has build quality that is no better than a Toyota Corolla or Mazda 3. All the vehicles are obviously built a price point and are awash in hard plastic trim everywhere one feels and touches. There is nothing, then, upscale about the three in appearance or substance. Cars like the Volvo S40, Acura TSX and VW Jetta are all similar in size, but offer substantially higher levels of overall refinement and build quality. I would have to argue that the treatment of the new GM Cruze in the interior alone far outpaces that of the Civic/Corolla/3.
