Default Fluid leaking on all four wheels, what is it?

06 GS300. I have dark fluid on my wheels/rims. Any idea what this could be? Driving fine. Brakes seem normal, not low to the floor etc.

All four shocks are leaking? Hard to believe it all goes out at once. You usually can't tell if the shocks blow out until its completely dead/drained, then your car will just be super bouncy over bumps.

You sure you didn't run over a pool of something? Or like below said, too much tire shine, they fling off.

mikeZ and Coco-Bun are probably right. That is the most likely cause. A number of different brands of tire dressing (if you use it) tend to get flung around and deposited on the wheels and rims.

is it greasey like? maybe bushings went bad..axle boots, it could be a number but those are all symptoms on the inside of a wheel.

Have you checked to see if its oily. Its highly unlikely that all four shocks went or even all four wheel bearings. Maybe the guys at the car wash are getting a little overzealous with the armor all

If it's excess tire dressing, you should be able to see some splattered onto the bodywork too.

All 4 bushings going bad at once?

(Although, true, on a 4-5 year-old car, each one could have individually failed over time).

And, on a regular RWD GS300, there are no front-axle "boots".

Maybe. It depends on the effectiveness of the splash-guards, and how much of the spray-pattern from the tires they can block.

Maybe the car doesn't have effective splash guards (because no Lexus car ever had or does have effective OEM splash gaurds), and even if they did we know they never will be as effective as truck guards.

Yes, maybe if he installed mud guards from a Dodge Ram truck on his GS, lol.

The spray pettern from the tires is caused by tread patterns, not a factor here. Yes, maybe the direction of the wind, speed, gravitational pull, etc.....

Note: OP's car is 06 GS300.

The ones on my Lexus IS300 did a pretty good job, even when the road was pretty sloppy.

Don't laugh. I've seen guys do it.

Tire black, especially the slippery silicon-based stuff, is generally not sprayed on the tread part....only the sidewalls.
That is important enough on a 4-wheel car, but critical on a motorcycle.....any biker who wants to keep from wiping out will tell you that.

Note: OP's car is 06 GS300.
Note: I'm aware of that. I made reference to that when I mentioned that a RWD GS300 didn't have front axle boots (he did not indicate an AWD GS300).

^^, lots of good off topic trivia as usual.

Given the car (OP's particular car), some tire dressing may get onto bodywork, not that it is harmful.

Glad the OP has the most likely answer after he sifts through all the junk on this thread.

I would think that the armor all would only end up on the body with aftermarket wheels and the more aggressive offsets . I am sure it can happen on stock tires but more likely with wider after market wheels

He's not complaining about the dark fluid being on the bodywork, but on the wheels and rims.

If you consider some of the posts "junk", then, instead of criticizing, come up with some suggestions or reasons of your own as to what is causing it.

What color is the fluid? Can you tell? And is it the same color on all four wheels/rims?

Welcome to CL, BTW, as a new poster.
