Mercedes shows off new tank-truck concept
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new armoured truck concept at this year's Eurosatory defense conference in Paris, France.
The G-Wagon Light Armoured Patrol Vehicle (LAPV) 6.X concept is based on the previous LAPV 5.4, but is more agile, provides better protection and can carry a heavier load.
The 6.X can reach 150 km/h while carrying 1,300 kilograms (2,866 lbs.) of gear, thanks to its unspecified high torque common-rail diesel engine. It suspension can be lifted on the fly to achieve a ground clearance of 450 mm (17 in.). The truck is also equipped with removable armoured plates that can be quickly replaced when damaged.
Working with the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS), Mercedes has equipped the 6.X with a hihg-tech data recorder, communications system and a jamming system.

I need one of these so I can crash into people talking on their cellphones and drinking their iced mocha half-caf with skim milk and extra sugar BS coffee, when they should be paying attention to the road or the ones that pull into an intersection, stop short, then put their left turn signal on once you're too close to pull into the right lane and go around them.
