I am amazed. The car is excellent condition and it still runs. These are the American cars of yesteryear . They were well made , well designed, and accepted very well by the world. Good for her. Go grandma. Is she still driving it at 91???? She may need to have her vision checked

That was a cool story. Her car had FL tags, but it was on the news in Milwaukee. Maybe she does a lot of road trips back and forth??

They are, but once upon a time a lot of aftermarket replacement manufacturers, in an effort to pull business away from the OEMs offered "lifetime" warranties on things like mufflers, batteries, shocks, brakes, and a few other items. They assumed that 95% of original owners wouldn't own the car for more than five years, or put more than 50K miles on them, so offering a long warranty wasn't much of a risk for them.

Now that people often put well over 80 - 100K on a car, those "lifetime" warranties are disappearing. Some rather poor designs cost a fortune to keep in replacements. Our faithful '92 Grand Voyager has a resonator located so far aft that unless the grocery-getter is driven for 20 minutes, the exhaust from the little Mitsu V6 never warms that distant muffler above boiling. That means it condenses a lot of water and rusts out about every two years. I solved the problem with a stainless exhaust system and eliminated the resonator. Of course, it sounds a bit like a party favor, but at least I'm not buying resonators every couple of years . . .
