Overdriving an animal? Police chase horse and buggy
was gonna post this in clubhouse, but figured it should be here (somewhat car related? 
)...
An Amish teen in New York State led police on a mile long chase in his horse and buggy after he failed to stop at a stop sign.
According to cbsnews.com, 17-year-old Levi Detweiler refused to pull over for police who witnessed the young man ignoring the stop sign. The chase finally ended when the buggy went into the ditch after Detweiler tried to take a sharp turn into a driveway. Police then caught up to him as he fled on foot. Police worked with two other Amish men to free the horse and buggy from the ditch.
Detweiler has been arrested and charged with underage possession of alcohol, overdriving an animal, reckless endangerment, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. He is being held on $500 bond at the Cattaraugus County Jail.
No word on whether police had to call their mounted division for backup.
