The new engine looks and sounds awesome.
The new 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 DOHC Aluminum engine is no longer a straight line muscle car, but a track car. Get rid of the stripes, and this makes a great car. I am estimating the new 2011 Ford Mustang GT will have a time of 3:06.0 which will put it in the same territory as the BMW M3, but with better gas mileage 17/26, 14/20, 16/23, and 15/23 respectively, 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0, BMW M3, Lexus ISF with 8 speed auto, and 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Domestic engines, qualities, and cars are starting to look better than Japanese imports. The new 2011 Ford Mustang GT wins in a lot of categories besides exclusivity. If you want exclusivity, low reliability and low dependability after the warranty expires, BMW M3, and if you want exclusivity, high reliability and high dependability, Lexus ISF will be your pick. Remember the more exclusive the car is, the great the cost; thus exclusivity is proportional to cost.

2011 Mustang GT vs 2010 BMW M3
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/16/2...w-m3-tie-game/
2008 BMW M3
Horsepower: 414
Weight: 3652 lbs
lb/hp: 8.8
0-60 time: 4.3 seconds
1/4 Mile: 12.7@111.3
60-0: 105 feet
Lateral Acceleration: 0.97
2011 Ford Mustang GT
Horsepower: 412
Weight: 3612 lbs
lb/hp: 8.8
0-60 time: 4.4 seconds
1/4 Mile: 12.7@111.3
60-0: 104 feet
Lateral Acceleration: 0.97
It's almost shocking to see how well the Detroit Muscle Car fares against the Bavarian Sports car, less shocking is that the largest discrepancy is the price as tested
M3: $63,625
Mustang: $36,465
Now, What is the definition of a muscle car? Is the BMW M3 worth twice the cost of the 2011 Ford Mustang GT? for exclusivity sure for some.

But for the MT, I drove one for 7 years straight, and the only reason I would buy another MT is if it was a straight track car.

Last time I drove a manual trans car (mildly modified 1995 Mustang GT) I just kept it in 2nd and rarely had to shift in Manhattan traffic. It still sucked but not very annoying. Now when I drove my friend's manual Civic in NYC... I was about to kill someone. Having to shift every block, at every light... every 30 seconds or so... for an hour....
These cars are meant to have manual trans. Enough torque to not really have to matter much about starting and staying in 2nd gear... And still ridiculously fun on the open roads.
