wow, i find that to be a really whacked point of view.

you know, a lot of successful people live in nice neighborhoods but HAVE to drive a pickup for work. or need one to pull a boat or trailer. and sometimes a garage isn't long/tall enough to fit the pickup, so they don't have much choice.

not sure what to say about that.
some of the best neighborhoods i have ever been to don't have HOA. in fact, all houses build 30 years ago doesn't have HOA (i think).
i guess it is really hard to define "look better". if uniform is your thing, then yes, but i absolutely hate neighbor houses all look alike (and all about the same shape to maximize the living area). i love house that is 3k sq ft and with 1k sq ft garage.

If it were me, I would be building a 10' wall all around the house so no HOA ***** could see if it was parked in the driveway. Heck we have a 7' wall around our house here in Japan. But I suppose they have some rule that you can't build a wall around your house...

Not to mention that some trucks CANNOT FIT in a garage, they are too long.

There is a recent story here, HOA put two GIANT boulders in front this guys driveway and they could not back out (him or his wife).

A lot of times HOAs exist only because people don't have respect for their neighbors. Kind of a neccesary evil.

I don't like not being able to do everything I would like to my home, or having to get a permission slip. But I wouldn't want people parking boats or cars on their front yards either.
