Gorgeous concept, unfortunately what they will actually build will be dumbed down and look nothing like it aside from having a similar design cue or two.
The Suzuki Kizashi was a gorgeous concept and looked like a game changer but when the actual car came out it did not look anywhere near as striking as the concept and only had a few ques, it is still a nice looking car but nowhere near what the concept was and the concept looked almost production ready.
It would be nice if the future RX-7 takes on styling cues from this concept and had that low sleek look. Mazda had some really sleek designs in the 90's like the last gen RX-7, last gen Cosmo(which unfortunately we did not get), last 929, and several Eunos models sold in other markets.

Finally Mazda is starting to get their styling direction back on track. Ikuo Maeda will lead Mazda to the promised land. He designed the Rx-7 and RX-8.
I love his sense of proportions and am looking forward to future Mazda automobiles. Let's say goodbye to the gaping mouth.

it gets people thinking about what's to come, along with revealing what a car manufacturer is up to. its great that mazda is changing things up for a totally new look. even if its not all that similar to this prototype model of the Essence, i think it has the making to not only perform quite well in its class but also has an appealing look.

One of the nicest Mazda designs in many years!
I hope many of these styling cues are integrated heavily into future Mazdas. I can't stand the current Mazda styling theme. The current cars are all overstyled and look goofy with those gimmick "happy face" front ends.

it's the other way around. Mazda continues to tune it's design direction and it previewed waaaaay before the Essence. It's no coincidence the Essence concept shares Mazda cues.
The essence won't be produce like this likely won't be produced and the production styling cues have been average at best.
