Post Jaguar XJ or Maserati Quattroporte?

These are two superb "other" choices for people that want a fine D class flagship but don't want the status quo 7 series, LS, S-class.

The Maserati is older but still an Italian beauty to look at inside and out with a stout V-8.

The Jaguar XJ is a new age Brit in a new suit inside and out with a few V-8 options and in SWB and LWB form.

Maserati cars don't do anything for me, personally. And the new Jag is just odd looking. I'd take the Kia.

Mike, the pics you have are of the new XJ. Is that what you meant??

XF:

XJ:

Personally, I'd go for the Maserati. I dunno why... I think it's just the feel of driving an Italian machine...

Boy I would hate the Service bill on either of those cars...but...not knowing the price differences, if they were equal, I would go with the Jag, because being that it is a "Ford", any ford dealer SHOULD be able to service it.

Actually, it was sold to Tata Motors not too long ago... But I get what you're saying...

I wish I had such difficult choices to make in real life

Both cars are excellent and if I were forced to choose I'd probably go with the Jag. I haven't sat in the XJ yet, but based on previous Jags that I've sat and and driven its a fine place to be

Haven't driven or reviewed a Quattroporte, so I can't make a well-informed choice between the two. However, it's hard to turn down the Jag's looks.

Id take the Maserati. To me, it looks better than the Jag, plus there is something special about driving a fine Italian car.

Between those two, I'd go with the Maserati. The new XJ is only "almost-there" in its styling. Something about the rear view or 3/4 rear view that I don't quite like. Makes me think of the current Maxima or something. A Jaguar should not do that in my opinion.

Granted, I've only seen a handful on the road so far and it may grow on me.

Maserati for me.
Although,I think the Jag would be more reliable and a bit less expensive for repairs.

Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of either ones styling. The Jag is less offensive to me, but doesn't really stand out in a crowd, either. It's kinda bland. The Maseratti has odd lines that seem to be a bit of a jumbled mess, but at least it's not boring to look at. Ugly, but not boring.

If I had to pick one of them? Masersatti. Just because you don't see many around my area.

Jaguar. I'm very impressed by the latest Jags, especially the 2011. I wouldn't want to touch a Maserati repair bill, of which they would be plentiful.

I've spotted, on the garden state parkway - 3 times, of the new Maserati broken down. Once of which was in the middle of the highway holding up Friday afternoon rush hour, another is by the side of the road at night while the owner in his nice suit smokes a cigar by the car lol
