It amazed me to see a Panamera inserted behind a new 911 to see how close their silhouette's are.

Yes, but the Pano's shape is a bit forced or contrived when compared to 911.

The 911's shape is functional and originally dictated by the rear engine configuration. Of course the tear drop rear end shape is less than ideal in the wind tunnel, therefore electric rear spoiler is standard equipment.

Those aren't sketches. Those are schematic projections which are on the wall directly behind the Porsche Turbo section inside the new Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.
