stupid hypermilers, driving so slow.
i think this is how it happened-
prius driving slow, tesla says "WTF god damn treehugger!",
tesla swerves around prius to overtake,
VW comes in opposite direction, slams on brakes, uses tesla as a ramp like bigfoot.
prius panics and swerves to the left, and rams tesla

Possible. From the photo, I'm guessing it was near Palo Alto or Stanford, California area where Tesla is located. I'm even guessing its HW 280. Dunno why I think that other then Tesla does all their new car testing on HW 280 in the slow lane. I commute often on that road and I've probably seen a dozen Teslas in the past 2 years.
Yeah, they are so quiet. On the freeway, the only thing you hear (with the windows down) is wind buffering against the car and a slight electric whine, like the car's coasting with the engine turned off.
