I did notice the roads were smoother in Alberta, Canada versus much of the US.

Mike, we envy you. Even the rock-hard IS-F and Mitsubishi Evo wouldn't be too bad in that area.

The roads here are great. Where I live they just repaved the roads and well, they sure as hell didn't need repaving

There are some areas downtown that are bad but its the same in any major city.

Probably little or no traffic in Alberta outside of the capital, Edmonton. A light traffic load, especially with heavy trucks, also saves wear on the pavement....not just mild weather. In fact, much of Canada, outside of the urban corridor in the East down the St. Lawrence River, is probably like that. In the Canadian Far North, though, (Yukon, McKenzie, etc.....), even with no traffic, temperatures are far too cold to have pavement at all, which would simply crumble up...most roads up there are gravel or ice.

If they are worse than in Michigan (which I doubt), they are BAD.

The auto magazines, which drive and test cars all ovr the country, also (generally) agree that Michigan's roads are the worst. In fact, Car & Driver and Automobile magazines are both headquarted in Ann Arbor, MI.

I dunno... i lived in the NYC/LI area for 20+ years and in SoCal for around 5+ and i have to say that NY roads seem to be worse... especially right after winter with all the potholes that either don't get fixed or are bandaid fixed (which doesn't help much).
