Anyhow, I respect your opinions. And the 335 is, admittedly, a reliability risk.

1. He mentioned practicality as a daily driver in criteria (which includes reliability).
2. I assume he is talking new car pricing. The price differences are huge, especially for me with my insider Ford discounts.
3. I think the 335 coupe looks better than the Stang, not that this decision is based soley on styling.
But these cars are like night and day and not typically cross-shopped. For example (a more typical shopping scenario), when I cross-shopped sport sedans I shopped 335 sedan/IS350 sedan/C350 sedan.

given the option of buying new or used, i would go with the new ( the mustang ) this way u know the car history ( which u will make :P ) its still under warrenty which the bmw would probably not be after the tune and dp, and u can always make it faster down the line where as the bmw is reaching its limits at this point and any more tuning will cause u problems and reliability issues as a DD

I'm not into muscle, I'm into luxury sport, so 335i for me. I'd take a stock 335i over the new Mustang GT. Yeah, the GT gets to 60 half a second quicker, it gets the quarter mile done Y seconds quicker, it gets around the track Z seconds quicker, but that's not good enough to entice me into getting a muscle car.
I like performance, but only within the realm of luxury sport. That's why if I were in the OP's shoes, I wouldn't even consider a new car until the M3, ISF, C63 AMG, Audi RS were available to me as viable options.
The performance of the 335i is more than sufficient to satisfy my needs for a daily driver. I don't need 5.0 Mustang Gt performance for a daily.

335i all the way. Haven't you seen the thread where they are running neck to neck with Lambos and Ferraris?
If you mod your car at all the 335i is definitely the better choice. NA vehicles take too much work to get turbocharged.

My brother was in the same situation. He went with the 2011 335i Coupe. It's a sweet car and the complete package.
But the Mustang really is a bargain. If money wasn't a big issue, 335i. If money is a little tight, the Mustang is a fantastic deal.
But, like someone else said, they are very much different cars.

the 335i would be 26000 + 3000 of mods and that would be alot faster than the gt and even the gt500 with a tune intake intercooler and down pipes 335i's are walking all kinds of cars so its 29000 for a great fast luxurious car.
the mustang is 36000 and the only really mod that gets you any kind of horse power to make it equal to the 335i is a supercharger but thats 8000 so for a great looking car that has an ok interior and is the same speed of the 335i it would be 44000

I'm not sure I'd pick a Mustang GT myself over the superbly-engineered 335i (especially with the 335's AWD option), But there's no doubt that the Mustang, being substantially cheaper, is a good value for the money. In fact, compared to the expensive M3 (as I've sated several times), the 335, IMO, overall, is a better value for the money.
