Default I'd like to propose a toast... a car toast!

To the incredible, smashing success of the 2007-2011 Toyota Camry and 2007-2011 Lexus ES350. You lived a popular life, set new industry standards, were the envy of many car makers, and filled the garages and driveways of hundred's of thousand's of families. JOB WELL DONE! About one year from now, your torch will be passed on to the next generation. Hope it stays lit bright.
Toast!

Even with the unintended acceleration debacle, the Camry is still the best selling midsized sedan. The Accord sedan, coupe, and Crossturd combined still didn't break Camry figures. It's gonna be a close race to the end of the year.

At this point, I have written off the year's recalls as pure driver/dealer error. Still haven't seen or read anything to convince me the cars were designed wrong. But to still be in first place even AFTER having a major recall, speaks volumes of how competent these cars are. Talk about a business success story!

I'd hate to be in Toyota's shoes right now. So much riding on the next bread and butter models.

Yes, the current-generation Camry is a good car overall (especially the refined powertrain and the excellent paint job), but has too much cheapness/flimsiness in the interior trim and especially the large manual-climate-control *****, which are so poorly-attached they wobble as you turn them.

Toast!
Great post. Talk about 2 under appreciated cars that owners love and people love to bash. Its so funny to see people bash them year after year and years after year they lead their segments in most areas.

One thing I really can appreciate about ES owners is how laid back they are and how they are not trying to prove anything with the ES. You don't read ES owners saying how the car is on par with a 5 series or its better than an E-class for less or other ridiculous arguments based on value and size. No they are a great group that bought a fine luxury sedan and are happy that it excels at what it does, being a mini-LS. You also rarely see ES owners try to make their FWD cars into race cars or try to do VIP or "stance", murder. They seem to avoid most trends.

The ES has been bread and butter for Lexus since 1992 and it is likely the best selling luxury Japanese sedan of all time. Everyone has targeted the ES formula from Acura to Buick. It will never win the hearts of enthusiasts who think 0-60 and slalom times are everything and who miss the complete point of the car.

Great job ES 350

I feel you on that one. As much as i love Lexus, i really hope the HS styling is not the future design direction. Dont get me wrong, the HS is not a fugly car by any means but its just not a Lexus-worthy design imo. If they do copy it to the rest of the line up, by all means do not let it be on the next LS!

Please ignore his need to drag and beat up the HS in every thread. The HS has its own style due to it being a hybrid only. Fugly? Maybe but that is not how other Lexus will look in the future.
