Default Honda cheapen Civic (No Auto Headlight off)

Well, i bought a new 2010 sedan EX, white for daily beater for me and wife but found out last night that It doesn't have Auto Headlight off features as most of the other cars do.

I didn't know it before I buy and I didn't pay attention to it as it is very common on almost any other cars (old or cheap).

Other than that, I am liking it for Cheap compact car.

I picked Civic over corolla because of 5 AT, Rear independent Suspension, a bit of V-tech feel around 4000rpm and exterior design.

I think honda is too cheap to care CIVIC or they are still in 19th century...

Cost cutting.

Just wait until you dig deeper and see all the other ways they cut corners...

I too prefer the exterior of civic over corolla. Great pickup. Keep us updated if there were other "surprises."

The Civic sedan is a nice choice in a solid, economical package. It has grown to almost mid-size status since the one I owned back in '95, but it provides surprisingly comfortable, if not exactly luxurious transportation for two with a back seat suitable for kids or occasional adults. Trunk space is larger than you might expect, and every bit of it is usable.

The EX trim level offers touches that were available only on luxury cars of the past generation, with premium cloth upholstery that belies its humble status. While the engine is economical, it still produces a decent amount of power for a family hauler . . . just so long as you don't put too much emphasis on the "hauler" part. It doesn't really HAUL.

My only real criticism of the Civic was the Honda service that was available for it. Fortunately, it was as reliable as a hammer, it was only interval service that betrayed the true incompetence of the service shop. Dealers in my area don't seem to care care for their own products. Once you drive off the lot, never darken their doorway again. If you can find an independent shop - especially one that focuses on Honda products, they may be a little more expensive than the shade tree at the end of the street, but are well worth it for their quality of work and their collective expertise.

I think you've gotten to used to higher end cars. Auto headlights are not common among economical cars.

BTW, I have a 2007 Toyota that has no power windows or locks, no ABS, and only 2 airbags.
And I love it.

My 1998 Camry LE has it. My friend 2010 Corolla S has it too. I am not sure those are considered Economical cars.

I am liking it. I am still waiting for break in as it has 9 miles when i pick it up. I haven't really try Vtech yet. I am waiting for it to break in and then will rev it to 6k+ rpm
It is slow but ok as eco car in acceleration dept. Of cos it is day and night compare to my 350

It has more wind noise than my old camry but it is quite comfy and roomy with decent handling. I think it has more interior room than my IS. Trunk is same size as IS or a bit bigger.

Now I am thinking about installing HID retrofit as I have complete Set of TSX HID in my garage.

Basically, most sub-compacts still don't have auto-headlights. And compacts such as the Civic are split on the offering. But pretty much all classes above have them standard.

I am pretty certain the Civic has a solid rear beam and lost their independent suspension almost ten years ago.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

My son has a '08 Civic sedan and it has 60+K hard miles on it and it's been bulletproof. My kid is rough on a car.
Great mpg, peppy and comfortable for a small car.
Downsides are ride quality and plenty of road noise.

It's ridiculous you don't get that on the Odyssey (at least the 2009 model) until the Touring model.

You might be wrong this time. It has "Multi-Link Rear Suspension" per Honda Spec. on their website. I don't see any Solid Torsion Beam at rear. Let me know if i am wrong.

Thanks, it's the European Civic which oddly has a torsion beam suspension.

I'm pretty sure multi-link is not the same as independant rear suspension.
