Default Which one would you get?

Currently I have the 2006 IS250, I have it for almost 5 years and I want something different... I'm on the market for something slightly used, I saw a 2008 Audi TT 3.2 quttaro with 32k miles on it and its about 26k, black on black; a 08 Porsche Cayman 2.7 with 32k miles and its cost 32k, gray exterior and black interior, but Carfax saids it had 3 owners...

I also like the BMW Z4 with hard top... but they still cost alot, my budget is to pay 10k more on top of my trade in... so I am looking into the TT now... not sure how much is the Audi or Porsche maintenance cost... any suggestions?

So, in general, you want to go from a 4-door sedan with a poor rear seat to a 2-door coupe with an even more-useless rear seat...or a strict 2-seater sports car with no rear seat, correct?

If that's the case (and please clarify it), you have a number of other choices as well....and we can go from there. Or do you specifically want to narrow it down to the vehicles you mentioned?

not sure how much is the Audi or Porsche maintenance cost... any suggestions?
Porsche parts/repair/maintenance, in general, when not free or warranty-covered, is notoriously expensive....in some cases, it (can) clean you out of house and home. Audi can be expensive, but depends, to some extent, on the dealership and where it is located.

Also, keep in mind that most upmarket German makes have a standard 4/50 factory warranty on the whole car (including powertrain), unlike the 6/70 drivetrain and 4/50 bumper-to-bumper that Lexus and Infiniti give you. Of course, on a used or CPO car, that is not necessarily the case.........it varies by manufacturer and dealer.

Correct. I am still single and never use my rear seats, besides just putting my jacket in it

I drove my friends s4 and I love it, but its high maintenance, Audi's quality is great but it depreciate quick, i assume thats apply to every car on the road...

I will either keep my car, drive it until it break down. OR I let my mom have my IS and trade her Rav4 in and get the new Kia Sportage. 10 years 100k miles warrantee sounds pretty good, but its a Kia.... OR I'll get something nice such as the 2 seater, I don't want to wait until I'm 50 to get a convertible. LOL

OR wait until the 3rd generation IS to come out in 2012

Here's my take on the S4. By CL request, I reviewed one about a year ago.

A friend of mine has had an S4 for several years, and is pleased wth it.......but he can afford the maintenance.

On maintenance. . . so far I only had to do oil changes, but:

- On my IS-F Lexus charges $225 plus 10 quarts of Mobile 1 ($70). . . so about $300 every 5,000 miles.

- On my Cayman S, Porsche charges $300 for an oil change, but Mobile 1 is included (8 quarts IIRC) and is every 10,000 miles. Plus every once in a while, the local dealership will run a sale so it's only $200.

Try a local Toyota shop. Some of them can do Lexus maintenance, as long as no warranty work is involved, for a much lower price. Lexus vehicles use pretty much the same factory filters, spark plugs, batteries, etc.....that Toyotas do.

In fact, one of our local Toyota shops (the Service Director is an old friend of mine) was trying to get certification to actually do Lexus repairs and warranty work as well. I'll have to give him a call and see if that ever went through.

If OP lives in a major urban area of Texas, research can be done (preferably through referrals) to find good qualified independent Porsche, Mercedes, Lexus, BMW shops/mechanics.

Even while the car is in warranty, the independent shops can still be used for major services (typically at approximately 30K intervals) with savings of 15-30%. For example I did that on my Mercedes and actual savings calculated to be 30%.

The Porsche Cayman would be the most rewarding of the cars mentioned for somebody demanding the best sports car handling/steering/braking characteristics, but all of these cars seem more like weekend cars to me, not ideal for only car or dd.

Dang... that oil change cost is crazy... $40 and a trip to your local walmart will get you 10 quarts of Mobile 1 Synthetic.. $8 bucks for a lexus oil filter and The other tools you can borrow from a neighbor... $225

Dude come over to my house and I will only change you $200 for the oil change... I will even wash your car for you just like the stealership.
