Default What's the most-likely car to be ticketed?

Here's an interesting story. Forbes did a study of the most-ticketed cars, and while the first-place Mercedes SL is probably not surprising (it's a beautiful, flashy car that is built for high speed, and also signals that its owners have money), and the second-place Camry is probably not surprising simply because of its huge numbers, the boxy Scions, IMO, are.....although, of course they are marketed to a relatively young, immature class of drivers who are likely to commit traffic violations.

http://www.asylum.com/2010/10/18/for...affic-tickets/

Drivers of the Mercedes-Benz SL Class are four times more likely than the average driver to get a ticket.

Forbes rated every model of car sold in the last 10 years on the likelihood of it getting hit with any kind of traffic violation. Following the SL Class -- which retails at more than $100,000 -- in racking up citations is the ho-hum Toyota Camry, which gets ticketed 3.5 times more than the average car.

Rounding out the top five: the Scion tC (3.4 times more likely to be pulled over), the Hummer H2 (2.9 times) and the Scion xB (2.7 times).

The inclusion of multiple models of the relatively obscure Scion on this list may be because the Toyota-owned line is marketed to younger drivers. Or it just might because its boxy, futuristic look offends the sensibilities of traffic cops.

Agreed, the sheer number of the drivers and the type of drivers are biggest factors.

when i read this, the last car i'd expect to be ticketed was the toyota camry, yet it's second behind the SL. but given its high volume on the roads at any given time, it's bound to get a few tickets; i remember getting one for, of all things, tinted plate cover--when there was a speeder in the lane next to me . the tC i can see as being one of the main ones, but the xB doesn't appear to be flashy or even a head-turner at that.

I wasn't expecting my Camry to be on the list. At least on the bright side I can count on sheer numbers to help me blend in a bit, especially in the Irvine area

LOL, just three weeks ago I got my first speeding ticket in last 7 years... in a Mazda CX-9. I think a speeding LARGER car is a larger target to get pulled over...

I thought any red car or truck is more likely to be pulled over.

I've seen a lot of prius' get pulled over. Surprised that they aren't the number one on the list.
