Kind of sad to see this coming from Ford. They seem to be doing so well...this undermines some of the success that we have seen, IMO.

Is that MSRP the average MSRP of all the cars of the same model series sold? If so, it's still pretty good for BMW that the 7-series can command an average selling price of $95,365 ($103,706 - $8,341).

I think some of Ford's recent success might have been overhyped. They have very high discounts from MSRP according to this, and also according to other industry information, they have a very high percentage of fleet sales.

Their lineup is mostly redesigned and new at this point in time. Meanwhile, some competitors such as Toyota and GM will soon have heavily redesigned lineups.

Ford's results are a mixed bag, but more good than bad.

While Ford has put heavy incentives on outgoing models like the Explorer and Ranger, their avg. transaction and revenue per vehicle has risen 14% as buyers are opting for more options.

For instance, the avg. transaction price for the new Fiesta is higher than that for the Corolla or Civic (vehicles that are a class higher); while it probably won't last once the early adopters have gotten their Fiestas, it nonetheless, is an impressive feat.

And the buzz is that Ford may announce record 3Q profits.

Interesting mix of models, some actually desirable (few) with big incentives to keep volume up.
