Man hits 1M miles in Ford F-250... in four years

Every now and again, we come across news that a vehicle has eclipsed the one million mile mark. The vehicles are typically very old, and they're often pickup trucks. That's only partly true for Phil Marsella, who uses his relatively new four year-old Ford F-250 to deliver greyhound dogs to racetracks and families across America. Marsella reportedly drives his gas F-250, "Betsy," between 7,000 and 10,000 miles per week, or more miles than many drivers log in an entire year. And it appears as though Ford never expected the F-250 would surpass one million road miles, as the digital odometer stopped working once the milestone was reached. Marsella says that he's tracking the miles, though, with another 12,000 miles or so since one million.
All those miles must make for a pretty big maintenance bill, as trucks typically need an oil change in fewer than 10,000 miles, and tires and brakes usually don't last for more than 60,000 to 70,000 miles, though obviously with that much highway mileage, the binders should hold on a bit longer than that. That's two or three oil changes a year and a brake or tire job every few years for most of us, but Maresella hits those milestones in no time flat. The career driver claims his four-year maintenance bill is a cool $67,000. If Marsella continues at this pace, and his beloved truck remains road-worthy, in the next six years he could challenge the all-time record of 2.8 million miles in a single vehicle; a record that required 40 years of driving.

Even at 80 MPH continuously 10 hours a day, it's only 800 miles. You have to eat, pee, get gas, stretch your legs, sleep, get stuck in traffic, etc. That sounds impossible.

wow, now that's getting good use out of a vehicle. 1500 miles/day has to equate to at least seven fill ups daily. but as long as it still serves its purpose and does it well, then that is great. hopefully the owner swapped out the bench for some cushy seats

This just seems Mathmatically impossible.
Hell a slightly productive airliner can do 2-3 trips across the US with different pilots and crew. So like 2-3k miles a day approx..
But somehow this guys F-250 can almost keep up with a plane that does 500mph

I believe he has a million miles, but not in 4 years... Maybe he does a Ferris Bueller at home... Just runs the truck on a Dyno all night at 100mph.. lol.
Anyhow i am always impressed with how well the Domestic trucks tend to be built compared to their car counterparts. The cars NEVER last this long and they are built by the same company. Always confused me..
EDIT....***
So here is the math 1million /4 years is 250k a year.
250k/365 is 684.9 miles per day..
684miles/65mph is 10.5 hours of driving a day.
So i guess if he could average that every day... he would hit 1 million miles in 4 years..
The math does work... My bad... JUST CRAZY..

Truck driver here! Guys this isn't that hard to do. You could even have every Sunday off and still manage it. Just depends on where you're driving and if he's added another gas tank in the bed of his truck. Obviously it takes a very dedicated driver but when I was over the road(local driver now) I'd stay out 8 weeks and then take 4 days off and go right back out there. That being said, this guy is only able to accomplish this because he's not driving a semi and he's not limited to all the rules and regulations we have, like only being allowed to drive 11hrs a day. Of course we have all broken that rule and driven a lil more at times(14-16hrs) and hope that we don't get caught. So without driving restrictions on him all he has to do is drive 13-15 hrs a day 6 days a week...not hard at all considering when you're out there you have nothing else to do but drive and sleep. Longest I've gone without stopping is 750 miles and yes that required peeing in a cup with the cruise on 75mph so that only took 10 hrs!!! Another factor could be that this guy travels at night when he might get away with much higher speeds(could have radar and jammer devices which we are not allowed to use), truckers of 15+ years ago would travel in packs cruising at 100mph during certain hours. Yes some 18speeds are capable of 125mph, scary huh? Lol
