Default I fell in LOVE

With the new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta that is. I test drove a few of them yesterday and i seriously want one now. I have owned many many high end cars so ive had a taste of everything from a buick to a benz and everything in between. However i have never been excited about a car as i am about these new VW's mostly because of what you get for the price. I test drove the SEL sport edition. This was one sweet machine white on tan leather loaded with sunroof and heated seats. Push button start and also had the lock and unlock hand recognition feature if the key was on the person. Navigation system and 17 inch wheels, all for 24k. I went around looking at anything that could compare to it and even a ford fusion with cloth seats was 27 grand while this jetta was fully loaded, looks beautiful, has plenty of power, gets 31mpg and has as much rear leg room as the GS (and its a small size sedan). I am looking at buying a car for my girlfriend and this whole time i was thinking of getting a used 2004-06 e55 amg for around 25-27 grand, but more than likely that will get me one with 60-70k miles. Yes the mercedes would be one sweet machine but when my girl and i laid eyes on this jetta she fell in love with it and so did i. Whole lot of a car compared to a civic or a corolla. Even the high end chevy cruze is a few more thousand than the jetta, and i can't stand american cars, so id never buy one anyways.

Oh absolutely, 24k for the car plus 1600 for 8 years unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty and you are set. You cant buy anything in that price range nowadays that has the same options.

E55 vs. Jetta

....hmmm.....something doesn't add up here...

P.S. are those drum brakes on the white one? Real classy, VW.

Yes they have drums on the base model, the white one is the base model, the one i drove the SEL had the 4 wheel disc brakes. I mean you cant complain too much the car is cheap its not priced that much for the fully loaded one. The reason why im second guessing buying a used car is that im sick and tired of having to work on them. From squeeks to rattles to rust to suspension to whatever else.

if those are your final choices, then i think you're right in choosing the jetta. the e55 more than likely will have problems down the line, especially if you're out of warranty. and for 24k, this is a great bang for your buck kinda car. best of luck!

Don't be fooled by the warranty. It's one of the worst in the industry. When all the electrical starts going bad after three years, you are screwed. The free maintenance is included in order to shortchange people with the regular warranty. I much rather have a longer B2B warranty that covers the major issues than a few free oil changes.

Otherwise, I think the dash is very elegant, the rear is a nice copy of the A4 (a good thing), and the front end is probably one of the plainest, most bland designs to come out in several years. If it were my money, I wouldn't go for it unless it was a three-year lease.

Is the car built off the previous A4? Look so similar (in a very good way)

While I applaud your decision, get a 2.0T or go home. Really...

Hey Davis, i totally understand what you mean. The salesman found the color combo that i wanted the black on tan in Ohio and i told him no. The reason being is that i want to wait for the GLI 2.0 Turbo rated at 200 hp which is 30 more than the 5 cylinder 2.5 liter that is offered on the SE and SEL. Also the GLI is going to be exactly like the European Version which will have electronic power steering instead of huydraulic, and also the biggest issue is that the GLI will not have the cheap plastic interior that just destroys all the other models here in the stats. The GLI dash will be true VW much more softer and way better looking. So i will definitely wait for the GLI model its only going to be a couple of grand difference anyways. Another thing is that the GLI wont have the turbo lag which so commonly ruins it for a lot of turbo cars. This is all from the reading that i have been doing so we will yet have to see when one comes to the showrooms. A lot of people like these new jettas but the only thing they hate is the fact that the 2.0 turbo isnt here yet and the interior is cheap plastic, which the GLI will surely change.
