Post AutoNews: The most disappointing new vehicle of the year is...Acura ZDX

http://www.autonews.com/article/2010...6/101109865/-1

Saleswise, what is the most disappointing new vehicle this calendar year?

I'd vote for Acura's five-door ZDX.

The ZDX is a cross between a crossover (tall vehicle height) and a sporty five-door hatchback, as in car. It's an odd duck. The ZDX went on sale late last year and rang up 79 sales.

Through October a mere 2,850 vehicles have been sold. Dealers sold 194 vehicles in October. Acura was expecting to sell 6,000 vehicles this year and 10,000 in 2011, according to a ZDX review in USATODAY last year.

Acura's web site is still pushing the 2010 model, which stickers for around $46,000.

Are there other candidates for this dubious distinction?

I realize I'm probably going to get baned for saying this... but the ZDX has grown on me a lot

I saw a few of them rolling around and they look damn good in black and in white. Don't look good at all in any other colors.

I wonder how the CTS Wagon is selling? I rarely see them on the road and GM doesn't break out sales of wagon vs. sedan.

I REALLY like the car but wonder if Caddy buyers are considering it or just getting an SRX.

It qualifies. Both cars were new for 2010.

No surprise here. Where were all the focus groups when they were deciding to bring this car to market???

This car fails in so many ways and is shows you what is wrong with Honda. First order of business, fire all the designers and clean house.

If everyone believes that the ZDX vehicle type is a mistake, then those same people have to concede that the BMW X6 is equally a mistake.

The styling is subjective and both have lousy sales numbers. Seems as though BMW, being BMW, gets them off the hook for bringing to market the same idea.

^^^ Well the X6 created this segment and recent news shows it has sold well, over 100,000 worldwide amazingly. The X6 also is not BMWs flagship and it has more room in the back and in the cargo area. To top that they offer petrol and diesel and hybrid X6s. To top that there are V-8 and the X6 M. So even if I don't like the X6 much either, it presents a far better case.

http://www.bmwblog.com/2010/11/01/bm...old-worldwide/

In comparison Acura follows the X6 with the ZDX and it offers less performance, less cargo, less options and IMO more ugly. The price is 46k to 60k loaded which isn't a bargain. The interior is well done but that is not enough here to justify it. This is ANOTHER FLAGSHIP FAIL and it is not even a true flagship, just a flagship for them.

Oddly enough while the X6 and ZDX are both"coupe" SUVs there is no competition to me. X6 would be my choice easily.

October sales = ZDX <200, Crosstour nearly 2,900. Obviously for whatever reasons Honda's market is the Crosstour vs. ZDX.

Well the thing is Honda wanted to sell 44,000 Crossturds a year and they are on pace for around 32,000 or so. Which means it missed its target by a wide margin as well.

To be truthful I’m starting to find a lot cars ugly I once thought look good but are not since I visited the Aston Martin dealership 5 months ago. The ZDX is ok but not unbearable which in my book mean ugly. But I do think its price right, 38k for anything with luxury is a good price.
